Simplified Interiors Newsletter
Dear Kathie,
The 4th of July is celebrated to remind us of our
freedom and independence. Sometimes we get so
caught up in our 'to do' lists and managing all our
stuff we forget what freedom feels like. We've been
doing things the same way for so long, we've
forgotten we are in charge and can change our mind
and make new rules. This month free yourself from
one clutter habit that steals the freedom and
independence to live the magic of your life.
Celebrate Your Independence
The dictionary defines independence as “not
depending on control; unwilling to be under an
obligation to others; not depending on something
else for its validity.” Is clutter controlling you? Are
you cluttered with obligations? How does clutter
validate you? This month let go of at least one
clutter habit and experience independence.
- Say 'I don't need a bag' when purchasing only a
few things and always leave shoe boxes at the
store.
- Buy only what you need now.
- Free yourself from self-imposed projects. Dump
or delegate.
- Practice saying 'no'.
“We use food and extra body weight as an excuse to
be still, be quiet, be left alone. Every time you say
yes when you mean no, you abandon yourself. And
every time you say no when you mean no, you
create a place inside from which you can get the
nourishment and peace you need. If you say no with
your voice, you will no longer need to say it with
your
body weight.” –Geneen Roth, When You Eat at
the Refrigerator, Pull Up a Chair
Flags are Good Feng Shui
Wave Your Intentions
Flags stand for its people and its ideals. In July, fly
the American flag, a family or state flag, or create a
flag of your own. Let your waving flag invite positive
Ch'i.
Let your flag symbolize your intentions and create a
visual reminder of your goals and desires. Freedom.
Family. New Beginnings. Prosperity and Abundance.
Red and stars are fire energy. White is metal
energy. Blue is wood energy. The square flag and
fabric is earth energy. Waving is water energy.
100 Things to Do
Freedom to Create Memories
If you had more free time, what would you do with
it? Begin a "100 Things I Want to Do/Accomplish
Before I Die" list.
Number 1 to 100 on separate lines down the left side
of a spiral notebook or journal. Nothing is impossible
when you eliminate the clutter in your life. My
number one was “Walk on the Great Wall of China”
and I experienced that amazing adventure April 9,
2006! Spend your free time this summer creating
memories and experiences.
