  • Simply Spectacular Celebrations Without Stress

Last month's enewsletter got you started with 5 tips to help you distress your holidays by eliminating and minimizing the 'other' clutter in your life – mental, emotional and even spiritual. Add the next 5 tips and enjoy Simply Spectacular Celebrations!

Tip Six: Make a pact – Only Consumables. Decide that you no longer want to collect 'stuff'. When exchanging gifts with friends and family give things that can be experienced, eaten, burned, used. Consider these consumables.

    1. Movie or sports tickets
    2. Restaurant gift certificates
    3. Candles
    4. Lotions, soaps, fragrances
    5. Spices, food, condiments
    6. Travel – tickets or a weekend at the Brown Palace or a mountain get-away
    7. Memberships at museums, historic places, donation to charity in their name, dues to their favorite association or organization

Tip Seven: Purchase On-Line. When life gets crazy and the thought of getting in the car and facing the crowds is just too much – get on line. You can order just about any thing from any where in the world from your computer. Many include shipping and handling at no charge. This is the way to send gifts out of town so you can avoid the postal lines. Check out these web companies.

    • www.Amazon.com – not just for books anymore
    • www.overstock.com – just about any thing you need
    • www.harryandavid.com – wonderful consumables – food stuff
    • www.dietzmarket.com – located in Durango, Colorado, you can put your own baskets of Colorado products together
    • www.usps.com – for ordering your stamps and package pick up

Tip Eight: Re-think Shopping. New seems always better but isn't necessary. What do you have that someone would like or has admired that you could give instead of buying something new?

    • Re-gift an item that you received but can't use
    • Enjoy watching others enjoy your stuff. Pass on an heirloom, a family book, tools, china
    • Create a personal/unique gift. Give a photo album you've prepared with special memories.
    • Make a quilt or hand-made stockings. How about a shadow box displaying a unique treasure (Grandma's handkerchief, a brooch and her picture)

Tip Nine: Give the gift of TIME. As much as possible, replace 'stuff' with experiences. When it's all said and done – you can't take it with you but you will always have the memories.

    1. Sleigh ride
    2. Baking Day
    3. Child Care
    4. Transportation
    5. Join a book club together
    6. Lunch once a month and visit a city or state attraction (art museum, historic tour)
    7. Volunteer together for an organization that you both admire

Tip Ten: Balance. In all things balance is the goal. When you have overextended yourself, take a few days to rest and rejuvenate. When you get 'cabin fever' invite a friend for lunch or put together a Sunday brunch for a few friends.

This year can be different. It's all up to you. Make a plan. Make new rules. Ask for Help. Simplify! You can make the MOST of your Holidays this year by doing LESS. Happy Holidays!

    Family Communication with Feng Shui

Because one of Feng Shui's main principles is to live in balance and harmony with nature's cycles. This month you are encouraged to add the METAL ELEMENT to enhance your holiday gatherings

Metal energy arrives in late autumn and supports solidity, richness, communication, great ideas, focus, discernment, clarity, optimism, and strength. What wonderful energy for your Thanksgiving celebrations this year.

Add Metal colors. Gold, silver, pewter, brass, copper, bronze. Use metallic 'chargers' under your plates at your holiday meal. Include metal candle holders and metal bowls filled with fruit and nuts.

Add Metal shapes. Round, domed, and arched shapes symbolize metal. Use round candles. Add a round rug at your entry. Display an heirloom or treasure under a glass dome.

Create a Family focal point with photographs of happy memories, ancestors, and children in metal frames of all sizes, shapes, and metal materials.

Share the solidity and richness of family this year by incorporating the Metal Element in your home and watch the communication become inspired.

    Clutter Clearing Makes an Impact

"You have made a real impact on my life. After I purged the bathroom I gave away half the clothes in my closet. Then I gave away most of my teaching supplies to a friend who is going to be a teacher and she was so excited. I'm so proud of myself. It feels so energizing. Thank You!" --Betty M.

"When I left class I thought my systems were in pretty good shape. Major Denial. My home office was in worse shape than I thought. But I made progress in tossing papers and brought some to work to shred. The class was motivating. Thank you so much." --Barb McD.

"I am getting rid of stuff I never thought I would or could have!! Mrs. Chi flows quite well through my home with the clutter out of her way--it is amazing. I have convinced one of my daughters to keep her bedroom door open to let Mrs. Chi in and I think it is helping! I love de-cluttering. Thanks for a great class!" --Jeanne H.
